Title: At Grave’s End(Night Huntress Universe #3)
Author: Jeaniene Frost
My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟1/2
Type: Series – Book 3
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Magical World, Vampire World, Paranormal
Primary Characters: Catherine (Cat), Bones
Narration: Single POV
At Grave’s End, the 3rd book in the Night Huntress Series, was action packed and a thriller read. It had been years when I had read first two books in the series. I picked up the entire series to re-read as I only remembered the remnants of story. I totally loved the strong characteristic building in this book. I loved Cat and Bones more in this book than in first two. I love their interaction, their love and their feisty characteristics and the way they always leave on the edge.
This book starts with same urban fantasy with Bones and Cat thrilling journey in FBI. Eventually the main plot develops with Bones old fling coming to surface. More than she being old flame, it shows the sort of destined path for Bones and Cat. Plot deepens when an all-out vampire war is declared. Bones makes an alliance with one of the most powerful vampires around, and in effect, gains some cool new powers of his own.
Cat and Bones didn’t let me down. They are an utterly devoted couple, even though they do have the occasional spat. I loved their understanding love and respect for each other. Cat is equal to bones in every way. The way she handles the aftermath of Bones in one scene was admirable.
The plot was developed, fast-paced and sucked me in from the beginning. I loved the characteristics development. I liked Tate, Rodney, Ian, Juan, Justina, Vlad and Mencheres. The plot shift also gave a deeper sense and understanding of Justina’s thoughts and prejudice. Interaction between Rodney, Bones and Justina after a point was hilarious and highlight of the book. Vlad was so damn funny, and Over the Top. Vlad was just awesome and really stood out in this book. Mencheres rocks with his powerful old self. He became someone that I want to know more about. I will start with Mercheres book (Eternal Kiss of Darkness) instead of Part 4. This book is a wonderful addition of additional characters.
Climax of the book was fast paced and thrilling. Grave walkers were just like that in evil dead and gave me creeps. The linkage of characters to history was unexpected. This made the book all the more interesting. This book didn’t have a single dull moment. I m happy that none of the books ends on cliffhanger, though the plot continues.
To sum up, it’s a solid sequel to the series. Fast, easy to follow, and packed with action – yet balanced with romance and humor.
